Aira praecox   Early Hair-grass CC DD N

Aira praecox

This is quite a small grass usually no more than 10 to 20 cm tall so is easily missed. It seems to prefer dryish spots in early to mid Spring. It reasonably distinctive and not too difficult to identify once you have spotted it.

It is found throughout the British Isles and if anything prefers the northern latitudes.
