We saw this fern most often in dark and damp or wet places. It seemed to be at home in the temperate rain forests and immediately reminded me of our own British Isles Blechnum spicant (Hard Fern).

It is recorded from the Australian mainland as well in Queensland, South Australia, Victoria and New South Wales.
