The flowers are not very large on Calectasia grandiflora but the bright yellow anthers contrast so vividly with the royal blue petals making this yet another spectacular wild plant. The flowers have a papery look to them with a sort of blue metallic sheen. Even though the leaves are xerophytic and adapted to dry conditions, it grows mostly in the relatively wetter south west of Australia south of Perth.
