This common introduced garden plant escapes successfully into the wild appearing most often in places where you suspect people have tipped garden rubbish. There must be another method of dispersal other than fly-tipping however for I have seen this perennial flourishing on the central reservation of a dual carriageway where dumping is just a touch difficult. This one was on waste ground and probably originally came from compost or some garden chuck-outs from the nearby caravan site. The leaves near the flower in the photo are not from the Calendula.
