Chionodoxa forbesii   Glory-of-the-snow C DD I

Chionodoxa forbesii

Re-directed to Scilla forbesii following name change.

This introduction from Western Turkey is a favourite early Spring flower in UK gardens so arrives in our countryside as a chuck-out and less often from seeds. There was a some indication that the site where this one grew may have been a garden years and years ago but the plant has been known here for a long time.

C. forbesii has successfully escaped to wild sites all over England and Scotland with fewer records in Wales. It has not been recorded in the wild in Ireland.
