Cyclamen alpinum Endemic

Cyclamen alpinum natural habitat

Related to the very popular early flowering Cyclamen coum, this alpine Cyclamen has propeller shaped flowers and is endemic to southern Turkey. It will grow at heights of up to 5,000 feet and in this woodland habitat was mixed with blue Anemone blanda (Wind Flower), white Galanthus elwesii (Greater Snowdrop) and Corydalis wendelboi. When first discovered it was known as Cyclamen alpinum and in the 1970s the name was changed to Cyclamen trochopteranthum and recently back to Cyclamen alpinum again.
