Introduced from southern Europe, this garden escape can survive in the wild in the warmer parts of the British Isles. This one was in fairly long grass on a roadside verge - probably the most likely place to find it.

It is not at all uncommon in the south of England but is only rarely found in Wales, Scotland Ireland and northern England.
