Restricted to limestone or calcareous soils in upland areas, this plant is mostly found in Snowdonia, the hills of Northern England and in Scotland. It used to be known as Twisted Whitlow-grass which as much more useful name as it tells the botanist what to look for. The mature fruits are elliptical but twisted and you just about make this out in the photo.
