Draba norvegica   Rock Whitlowgrass RR DDD N

Draba norvegica

This insignificant little plant is found only in the harshest of mountain habitats. In these crags the snow often stays until May giving little time for any plant to grow, flower and set seed but D. norvegica copes with these conditions well. It has typical Draba elliptical seeds emerging soon from the inconspicious white flowers. We never seem to find many plants of this species but it could be because it isn't one of the spectacular plants of the mountain and it's always hard work to get to the very top.

This plant is restricted to a few mountain tops in the highlands of Scotland and does not occur in England, Wales or Ireland.
