Horsetails aren't easy to identify but this one has one particular feature which makes it different from the others. It has a large hollow centre so that it is quite easy to fold the stem in two. The numbers of teeth vary and so does the number of branches - it quite often has none at all. It does, as its name suggest like to grow with its feet in the water.
