This year S. aquaticus has proved a bit elusive for some reason. It should be plentiful on our local marshes an isn't but luckily we found this quite nice smallish plant very late on in the year. The flowers are much more spaced out in S. aquaticus than in other common species like S jacobaea (Common Ragwort) but it doesn't expand sideways like S. squalidus (Oxford Ragwort) and can be over 1 m tall. The individual flowers are quite large.
