Tamarix is an introduction from Europe where it is very common. Here in UK it has become much commoner in the last few decades paricularly by the seaside.

It is common alond the southern and eastern coasts of England with some in the north west too. There is a little in Wales even less in Ireland and none to be found in Scotland
