Zygaena filipendulae   Burnet Moth

Zygaena filipendula

This is I think this is the common six spot Burnet moth which is day flying. You can see it on a variety of flowers. Here is is on Centaurea scabiosa (Greater Knapweed) but I have seen a good many on Thymus polytrichus (Thyme) at South Stack on Anglesey too. The food plant is supposed to be Lotus corniculatus (Common Bird's-foot-Trefoil) but I have never seen any on this common flower
