Wall Brown   Lasiommata megera

Lasiommata megera

The Wall Brown has been in decline for some time now and this once common butterfly is rarely seen in my home county of Cheshire. However on a Wild Flower Society trip to the Devon coast we came across a flat rock in full sun surrounded by flowering plants. I photographed many Grayling butterflies and then we were visited by this single Wall Brown. This was the first I had seen in the U.K. for over a decade.
