European Blue butterflies can be difficult to identify when they persistently perch showing either upper wing under wing surfaces but this species obligingly showed both. The larval food plants include Trifolium (Clovers), Melilotus (Melilots) and Thymus (Thyme) species but the adults will take nectar from a wide variety of plants.
