Halgania littoralis Endemic

Halgania littoralis whole Halgania littoralis close

This magnificent shrub which you could see full of bright blue flowers from a good distance away, is mostly found around the Shark Bay area and as its name suggest you should expect to find it on sand in dunes and on the shore. It is named after a Vice Admiral of the French Navy who unlike many other distinguished historical figures who collected plants, appears to have no particular link to botany or Australia. It looks very like a member of the Boraginaceae family which it is.
