Medicago polymorpha   Toothed Medick

Medicago polymorpha close Medicago polymorpha fruit

The leaves have a tiny spike at the apex just like M. lupulina (Black Medick) but the fruits are anti-clockwise spirals with spines and the flowers very small. Another distinctive character is the stipules which are deeply toothed. M. polymorpha grows typically in waste places and throughout the Mediterranean.
