Rhododendron hirsutum Hairy Alpenrose
Rhododendron hirsutum is a limestone loving plants as well as an alpine growing at height of up to 8,500 feet. Found throughout the alps, it is more frequent to the eastern end such as the Dolomites. It can form hybrids with its close relative Rhododendron ferrugineum (Alpenrose) which prefers acid soils.
