Scaevola spinescens    Currant Bush Endemic

Scaevola spinescens whole Scaevola spinescens close

This shrub is unusual in that it can be in flower in any month of the year. The flowers can be white, cream, yellow or even green. Presumably the globose fruits explain the common name : Currant Bush. I didn't notice the spines but you can see some thin spiky growths which no doubt could stab you if you got too close.

It is one of the commonest taxa in western Australia found even north of Port Hedland and only beginning to be less common around the south coast.
