Ajuga iva   No English name

Ajuga iva whole Ajuga iva whole

It seems strange to think that this plant is in the same genus as British shade plant Ajuga reptans (Bugle) but the flower shape is quite similar. Ajuga iva is a prostrate plant and is found in many Mediterranean regions and can have purple, pink or as this one has, yellow flowers. As a possible medicinal herb it has been reported as having anti-malarial, anti-oxidative and even cholesterol uptake inhibiting properties.
