Sedum atratum   Dark Stonecrop

Sedum atratum whole Sedum atratum close

Sedum atratum is actually an annual stonecrop with variable numbers of petals but usually five. The petals are sometimes described as greenish in colour but the dark red interior gives the flower head a distinctly red appearance from a distance. It is an alpine plant found in south and central Europe from Spain, Portugal, Switzerland where this was found, to the Balkans and Carpathians, at heights of up to 7,500 feet.
