Solanum symonii Australian Endemic

Solanum symonii whole Solanum symonii close

There is more than one species in this genus called Kangaroo Apple, so I am following Florabase in saying this has no common name. The shrub was about 2 to 3 metres tall and had a fair number of these purple flowers which do look very much like typical Solanum species, in flower.

Records show it is very much a coastal species and found from Geraldton, southwards past Perth to the south coast then dotted all the way as far as the beginning of the Nullarbor Plain. It is also found in South Australia.
