Spinifex hirsutus also known as Rolling Spinifex, Spring Rolling Grass and Beach Spinifex is a coastal species growing in dunes from Perth southwards and on the south coast beyond Esperance. The confusion with another genus Triodia is caused by the fact that the common name for this (Triodia) is Spinifex and is a grass of the interior of the Australian continent not the coastal dunes.
