Trachymene cyanopetala Endemic

Acacia dealbata

There are so many large and spectacular plants in the Western Australian flora that it's easy to overlook the little plants no more than a few centimetres high. I nearly stepped on this one but managed just a few photos from which this one above was a reasonable representation of the species. The cactus like burs (seeds) are characteristic and can be quite deep reddish in colour. The flowers can be white or pinkish

Trachymene cyanopetala is fairly common from Shark Bay south to beyond Perth and throughout the Wheat belt but not quite reaching the south coast.
